little voice for save the music
In the end of 2020, I released a cover video of a Sara Bareilles song called “Little Voice” from her AppleTV+ show of the same name, and I was kind of blown away by the reaction. It’s a song I’ve loved since the first time I heard it, and it brought me so much joy to sing it and share it, I wanted to figure out a way to pay that good feeling forward.
So I decided to officially release the song for charity, which is when I discovered Save The Music, an incredible organization dedicated to assisting and funding music programs and teachers in public schools. The more I read about their work, the more I felt like it was the perfect fit for this project. Music education absolutely shaped who I am, and I realize now just how privileged I was to have had the access to it that I did as a kid. So I guess this is my way of trying to be a part of making sure that every kid, regardless of their background, has the same access to those resources.
When you think about it, what’s the one thing we all lean on when times are tough? MUSIC. Which is why I feel it’s so important to keep music alive in our schools. So that young kids can grow up to write the next Luke Combs “Six Feet Apart,” or to play guitar on Thomas Rhett’s “Be A Light.” Keeping music alive in our schools ensures that the music keeps coming, so that the next time we’re going through a year like 2020, we have something to help us keep pushing forward.
So, “Little Voice” is OUT NOW!!! I hope you love it, and if you wish to make a donation on top of the sale of the song, you can do so here: donate.savethemusic.org/littlevoice
